    WHAT HAPPENED

    LA Galaxy posted an animated video on their social media platforms, bringing to life the team's first MLS game played on April 13, 1996, at the Rose Bowl against New York/New Jersey MetroStars.

    The video is narrated by Cobi Jones, who scored the Galaxy's first goal in that match. The game ended 2-1 with Arash Noamouz scoring the Galaxy’s second before Giovanni Savarese added a late goal for New York/New Jersey.

    That season marked the start of a legacy for the LA Galaxy as they went on to finish first in the Western Conference, reached the first MLS Cup final and finished runners-up to D.C. United. In the years since, the Galaxy have won six MLS Cups and four Supporters’ Shields.

    While the LA Galaxy have enjoyed countless trophies and accolades over the years, the 2025 MLS season hasn’t started well for the reigning MLS Cup champions. They sit at the bottom of the Western Conference. They face Austin FC next on April 18 which is followed by a home game against the Portland Timbers on April 27.
