Hansi Flick reveals what he told Lamine Yamal in emotionally charged touchline talk after Barcelona's Champions League win over Brest as teenage star edges closer to return from injury

After following up a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad with a 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo in La Liga, Barcelona returned to winning ways on Tuesday as they breezed past Brest 3-0 in the Champions League courtesy of a Robert Lewandowski brace and a goal from Dani Olmo. This was the third consecutive game that star winger Lamine Yamal missed due to his ankle injury. The Spanish sensation did not train with the team on Monday and therefore was kept out of the matchday squad.

After the game, manager Flick was caught on camera sharing a passionate exchange with the youngster on the touchline, and later in his post-match press conference, the German coach revealed what he told Yamal to motivate him. He also provided an update on the 17-year-old's condition.

Speaking to reporters, the Blaugrana boss said: "I told him that I hope he'll be with us on Saturday against Las Palmas. He'll train with us tomorrow." He then jokingly told a journalist: "Next time you come with me and listen to him."

The Catalan giants will hope that Yamal regains full fitness by the end of this week so that he can rejoin the team for their upcoming La Liga fixture against Las Palmas on Saturday.
