'Why not?' - Ex-LA Galaxy striker Billy Sharp opens door to Wrexham transfer as he insists he 'doesn't hold grudges' after feud with Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney

Sharp joined the LA Galaxy on a two-month deal in August after being released by Sheffield United, and went on to score six goals in 12 appearances for the MLS club. The 37-year-old is on the lookout for a new club again now, though, with the LA Galaxy ultimately deciding against offering him a new contract for the 2024 season.

During Sharp's final season with Sheffield United, they came up against Wrexham in the fourth-round of the FA Cup, and eventually progressed after a 3-1 replay victory. Sharp was among the goals and also made headlines for his post-match comments as he accused the Welsh club of being "disrespectful" in the buildup to the game and "thinking they were already through". Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson admitted to being "disappointed" with Sharp's comments, while the club's co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney claimed to be "living rent free in that motherf*cker's brain" as a remarkable feud played out in public.

Despite his past remarks, Sharp has now admitted that he would consider a transfer to Wrexham if they were to contact him. When quizzed on whether he'd play for the Red Dragons, the former Sheffield United star said on William Hill's'No Tippy Tappy Football' podcast: "Wrexham are doing really well, fair play to them. I don't hold grudges. If that were one of my better options, why not."

It remains to be seen whether Wrexham will make a move for Sharp ahead of the January transfer window, particularly with star centre-forward Paul Mullin in such electrifying form. Mullin scored a hat-trick as the Red Dragons stormed to a 6-0 win over Morecambe on Saturday, which saw the team rise to second in the League Two standings. Parkinson's men will be back in action away at Harrogate Town on November 28.
