Deja vu for Endrick! Brazil hero reveals he scored identical Wembley winner against England while playing ‘career mode’

Endrick came off the bench to become the youngest ever player to score a winning goal in a men's match at Wembley as Brazil beat England 1-0 on Saturday evening. The Real Madrid-bound striker is just 17 but he already has three caps under his belt, having scored 18 goals in 66 games for Palmeiras at club level, and he has revealed his emotion at netting his first for his country.

Real will officially sign Endrick in July, when he turns 18, ahead of the 2024-25 season. They have paid a staggering €60m (£52m/$64m) to secure his signature, having triggered the release clause in his Palmeiras contract.

Endrick told O Globo, via The Athletic, after his winner: “I’m still getting my head around it. I think it cost me a bit at the end there, when I had the chance to score again. I can’t lie: I couldn’t stop thinking about the goal.

“It is a unique feeling. I used to play video games. I would play as Brazil on career mode. I remember playing here at Wembley on the game and scoring. That came into my head and I kept thinking about it. I couldn’t concentrate on the game.

“It’s a unique memory. My family is here, my girlfriend, my agents... I’m not the kind of person who cries often, but I’m holding it back now. I’m really happy.”

Brazil face another European powerhouse on Tuesday in an international friendly against Spain. Endrick will once again hope to raise his stock and stake a claim to make Brazil's squad for this summer's Copa America in the United States.
