Contract extension already! AC Milan to activate Christian Pulisic clause after seeing USMNT star post personal bests on the back of bargain €20m Chelsea transfer

The United States international only moved to San Siro in the summer of 2023. The €20 million (£17m/$22m) paid out to lure him away from Chelsea is being made to look like quite the bargain, with Pulisic posting personal bests during his debut campaign in Italy.

The USMNT star has registered 13 goals across all competitions, alongside eight assists, while his versatility has been put to good use when filling wide attacking berths and central creative posts. Pulisic’s value to the collective cause is not lost on anybody in Milan.

With that in mind, Corriere dello Sport claims that the Rossoneri are preparing to extend Pulisic’s deal. His contract is due to run until 2027, but there is the option for a further 12 months within those terms. Milan are ready to activate that clause and keep the 25-year-old on their books until at least 2028.

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has said of Pulisic: “I’ve had many video calls to explain the playing style and I rarely get the wrong sensation from the players. I knew Pulisic’s quality, but when we talked on a video call, I sensed something very positive. He was very eager, curious, interested in everything I had to say. He doesn’t talk very much, but it’s the attitude that shines through from a person. His attitude is fantastic, he is an exemplary professional and hard worker who will help the team to get stronger.”

Pulisic is enjoying his time in Italy, following previous stints in Germany and England, with the American forward embracing a new culture and way of life. He continues to break down a language barrier in Milan, with the help of regular lessons, and has become a popular figure in a star-studded squad that includes Portuguese sensation Rafael Leao, World Cup winner Olivier Giroud and international team-mate Yunus Musah.
