Arsenal told Alexander Isak move is 'not going to be realistic' as Gunners switch focus to Victor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko

Isak has garnered widespread attention following his performances for the Magpies, with clubs across Europe reportedly keen to secure his services during the summer transfer window. Arsenal are not the only English club monitoring Isak. Liverpool are also said to be keeping a close watch on the Swedish forward, while elite teams from other leagues are likely to enter the race as well.

According to David Ornstein, Newcastle are reportedly unwilling to part ways with one of their most valuable assets unless an enormous offer comes through. With Isak potentially priced as high as £150 million ($194.4 million), any attempt to bring him to north London would almost certainly absorb the majority of Arsenal’s summer transfer budget — if not exceed it entirely.

"They [Arsenal] will look to strength in attack with players such as Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting, Benjamin Sesko on the radar. I don't think Alexander Isak is going to be realistic, nor the likes of Victor Osimhen and any other names you here swirling around," Ornstein told CBS Spotrs.

The Gunners’ need for an additional forward has grown in recent months, driven by a series of injury concerns. Throughout the 2024-25 season, key players like Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Kai Havertz have all faced extended spells on the sidelines. These injuries have placed added pressure on Arsenal's thin attacking ranks and underlined the importance of recruiting a reliable and durable striker ahead of the new campaign.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is under no illusions about Isak’s importance to the club. With the Magpies still in contention for a European qualification spot, particularly a Champions League berth, keeping their top striker is seen as a priority. Selling Isak would only be considered if a truly irresistible offer came in - and even then, Newcastle might hesitate given their own continental ambitions for the upcoming season.

Isak is expected to be in action this Saturday as Newcastle take on Ipswich Town in a critical Premier League fixture at home. While Arsenal will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his performance, the reality is that any attempt to sign him will involve navigating a complex web of financial demands, competition from rivals, and Newcastle’s own reluctance to sell.
