There’s a blast from the past this weekend, for those wrestling fans with a good memory, as Wrestlepalooza returns with a bang. This 2025 edition, also known as Wrestlepalooza: Indianapolis, will be the fifth time the event has been staged, although this is the first under the WWE banner. The previous four versions, staged between 1995 and 2000, were produced by the now-defunct Extreme Championship Wrestling organisation, the assets of which were acquired by WWE in 2003.
It’s also a momentous broadcasting moment in the United States, as Wrestlepalooza 2025 will be the first event under the new five-year agreement between WWE and ESPN, which introduces Premium Live Events to ESPN platforms. Saturday, September 20, is a huge grappling day in general as AEW’s ‘All Out’ event in Toronto is also being screened live (Prime Video). This will kick off earlier now at 3 pm ET, to avoid a direct conflict with Wrestlepalooza.

The inaugural Wrestlepalooza was held at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia in 1995 with a headlining tag-team Stretcher match between Public Enemy (Rocco Rock & Johnny Grunge) vs. The Gangstas (New Jack and Mustafa). The event took place again in 1997 and 1998, with the last ECW-promoted edition staged in St. Charles, Missouri, in 2000, with the main contest seeing Tommy Dreamer, Dusty Rhodes, The Sandman, and New Jack involved in a Street Fight against ‘The Network’ (Steve Corino, Jack Victory, Rhino, and Yoshihiro Tajiri).

It's pretty apt that to celebrate the resurrection of Wrestlepalooza after a 25-year break, two long-standing legends of sports entertainment will clash in the headline event, as John Cena and Brock Lesnar renew their rivalry in the Indianapolis ring. Other WWE stars set to shine at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse include the likes of Cody Rhodes, Jimmy Uso, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch.
Let GOAL show you all the vital information you need to know ahead of Wrestlepalooza, including how to view all the thrilling action and which wrestling match-ups await the Indianapolis crowd and those watching or streaming from home.

John Cena vs Brock Lesnar

After losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, John Cena was confronted and attacked by longtime foe Brock Lesnar, who hadn’t been seen in the ring since SummerSlam 2023. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ would attack Cena once again, while the latter was involved in a match with Sami Zayn, during an episode of SmackDown earlier this month. That same night, the Wrestlepalooza match-up between the pair was announced, and amazingly, it will be over 10 years since the legends last clashed 1 on 1 in a match-up. It marks one of the final in-ring performances on Cena's 2025 retirement tour.
Cody Rhodes vs Drew McIntyre

During an August episode of SmackDown, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre were involved in a tag team match, with Rhodes’ team winning via disqualification. Following the match, McIntyre attacked Rhodes. Earlier this month, Rhodes would come to Randy Orton’s aid during a match-up with McIntyre, further fanning the flames between the pair. Rhodes stated that he would see McIntyre at Wrestlepalooza, and a title match was subsequently confirmed for the event.
Iyo Sky vs Stephanie Vaquer

At the all-women's event ‘Evolution’, Stephanie Vaquer won the Evolution Battle Royal to earn a women's world championship match at Clash in Paris, while later that night, Naomi cashed in her ‘Money in the Bank’ contract during Women's World Champion Iyo Sky's title defence to win the championship. Naomi was set to defend her title against Sky in August, however, she had to relinquish the crown after it was announced that she had fallen pregnant. Raw General Manager, Adam Pearce, subsequently stated that Vaquer would face Sky for the vacant title at Wrestlepalooza. While Sky has already been to the mountaintop, this is set to be the biggest match of Vaquer's WWE career.
The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) vs The Vision (Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker)

Jey Uso has been involved in a rivalry against The Vision (Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed) since Wrestlemania and has fought the trio in various formats and encounters over recent months. Jimmy Uso would come to his brother’s assistance after Jey was set upon by Breakker and Reed on the Raw episode, which followed ‘Clash in Paris’, which led to the tag team match at Wrestlepalooza being arranged.
CM Punk & AJ Lee vs Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch

At SummerSlam, CM Punk beat Gunther to claim the World Heavyweight Championship belt. His euphoria lasted just minutes, though, with his longtime rival Seth Rollins cashing in his ‘Money in the Bank’. He beat an exhausted Punk to take the title for himself. Rollins subsequently defended his championship in a fatal four-way match also involving Punk at Clash in Paris, although Rollins’ wife (Becky Lynch) came to his rescue. This led to Lynch and Punk falling out, with Lynch antagonising Punk further by slapping him. On an episode of SmackDown earlier this month, CM Punk brought his wife, AJ Le,e out to the ring, who was making her first return to WWE since 2015. Lee suggested the couples should set up a match against each other, and after initially declining the offer, Rollins eventually agreed, with Wrestlepalooza suggested as the occasion. This will mark Lee’s first match in over 10 years.
