Week 1 was no fluke.
Erick "Cubo" Torres hadn't scored in MLS play since Sept. 2014 when he opened his Houston Dynamo account in last week's 2-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders, and the Mexican forward was on the mark again in a 3-1 win Saturday over the Columbus Crew.
Impact blow two-goal lead to Sounders
With his side already leading 2-0, Torres added a third when Alex sent a long pass over the top toward Torres in the 65th minute. The 24-year-old killed the ball dead with his first touch and got into the box where he was able to curl a shot past Crew goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
The touch. The finish.

The finish didn't just help Wilmer Cabrera's side to a consecutive victory in the coach's first season at the helm of the Dynamo, it also drew attention from pundits around the league. And with Liga MX inactive because of a referee's strike, the former Mexico U-23 will hope El Tri boss Juan Carlos Osorio stayed up late in Seville, where he was observing Sevilla, to see his showing.
Torres and the Dynamo will go for three straight when they head on the road for the first time this season with a March 18 match in Portland against the Timbers.
