VIDEO: Wijnaldum, Alexander-Arnold, Lucas Moura & Sissoko - The UCL Player of the Week Nominees

After one of the most shocking and historic UEFA Champions League matchweeks in the competition's history, we have our two finalists.

Liverpool and Tottenham overcame the longest of odds to battle through to the showpiece in Madrid, with every single player leaving their all on the pitch in the hope of achieving what looked to be impossible.

For the Reds, Georginio Wijnaldum's contribution from the bench proved pivotal. The Dutchman replaced the injured Andy Robertson at half-time and made his presence felt with two goals in two minutes, swinging the tie against Barcelona firmly in their favour in doing so.

Wijnaldum's efforts earned him a spot on the UCL Player of the Week shortlist, on which he is joined by team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose quick thinking and wicked deliveries provided the ammunition to fire Jurgen Klopp's side to Madrid.

In Amsterdam, Tottenham's Lucas Moura wrote himself into club folklore. His second-half hat-trick stunned Ajax and the footballing world alike; his 96th-minute winner sparked scenes of both euphoria and despair in the Dutch capital.

Joining Moura on the POTW shortlist is midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who acted as the driving force from midfield as he sought to drag Tottenham back to Madrid. The Frenchman, like Wijnaldum, was relegated from the Premier League with Newcastle United just three years ago; now both are within touching distance of Champions League glory.

Voting for Player of the Week is now open.
