Tottenham’s Serge Aurier anticipates reunion with ‘more experienced’ Fred

Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Monday night Premier League encounter, Serge Aurier is looking forward to playing against Manchester United new signing Fred.

Both players have crossed paths in the past while at their former clubs, with Aurier scoring in Paris Saint-Germain's 3-0 away win over Fred's Shakhtar Donetsk in a Uefa Champions League group stage match in 2015.

The Brazilian joined Jose Mourinho’s set-up in a big money transfer from Shakhtar in the summer - a year after the right-back moved to England.

And the former Lens player has highlighted the outstaanding abilities of the £52.5 million midfielder, whom he noted has gained 'more experience'.

“Fred is a very good player,” Aurier told club website. “He likes to play freely with the ball, he likes to run and he moves well from box to box.

“I remember when I played against him when he was at Shakhtar Donetsk and I was at PSG, he played well but he was only young then.

“Now he has got much more experience, he’s been to the World Cup. He signed with Manchester United in the summer and, for me, that was a good decision by United. He’s good defensively and it’s a big, big test when you’re against him but we also have very good players and we will be trying to play our game and get the three points.”

After sitting out Spurs’ win over Fulham last week, Aurier will hope to get the nod ahead of Kieran Trippier at Old Trafford, as Mauricio Pochettino will look to pile more misery on Manchester United.
