Struggling Nakumatt FC deny take over reports

Kenyan Premier League side Nakumatt FC has been badly struggling financially.

The Shoppers have been playing at times on empty stomachs, with players and technical bench going without salaries since the start of the season.

Reports doing rounds indicated that the club has already been sold and the money problems solved. However, team's Secretary General Anthony Wesonga has refuted the claims.

“The club has not been sold yet, that is for sure, but we have people, who have shown interest and we are still engaging them. In case anything happens, I will definitely let you know because that will be good news to everyone associated with the team.

“But as of now we are focused on the league's outing, we will be playing Kariobangi Sharks and that is where our minds are,” Wesonga told Goal on Friday.

Nakumatt was promoted to the top tier alongside Zoo Kericho, Kariobangi Sharks and 2016 National Super League winners Nzoia Sugar.
