Sheikh Mohammed posts congratulatory message for Egypt on World Cup qualification

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, conveyed his best wishes to Egypt as they secured a spot at the World Cup in 2018.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the African nation just past the hour mark but Congo equalised in the closing stages.

However, the Liverpool star came to his country's rescue again, tucking away a stoppage-time penalty to seal a 2-1 victory that sealed their place in Russia next summer. 

The Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates was quick to congratulate Egypt, claiming it was a win for the Arab world as well.

"Congratulations, Egypt & congratulations to all Arabs," his post read on Twitter.

"Qualifying to the World Cup. A beautiful Arabian night. You brought happiness to our hearts from the Gulf to the Ocean. Egypt, you are always grand."

Russia 2018 will be Egypt's first World Cup appearance in 28 years.
