Rwanda want a winning start against Nigeria - Antonie Hey

Rwanda national team coach Antonie Hey is optimistic his side can earn a winning start against Nigeria in Monday evening's Africa Nations Championship Group C clash.

The Amavubi crashed out at the quarter-final stage as hosts of the 2016 edition, but the gaffer admits it will not be easy against the Super Eagles.

"We are very fine and the team is very ready. We had a very tough training schedule in Tunisia with the matches we played," Hey told Goal.

"Players were a little bit tired and but since were are here now, they are recovering very fast and very motivated. We are very optimistic about getting a winning start.

"Against Nigeria, it will not be as easy as everyone in our opponent’s camp thinks, we are ready and I hope Nigeria is ready too."

Hey strongly believes they have all it takes to advance from the 'strong group' C having been equally drawn against 2014 winners Libya and Equatorial Guinea.

"It is a tough group. Everybody can go to the next round and everybody can go out. We have seen it today with Namibia beating Ivory Coast," he continued.

"Everything is possible. The players are looking very shape and I’m quite optimistic. No injury worries, everyone is fit and ready to go."
