Mathare United striker challenges team to show character

Mathare United top scorer, Chrispin Oduor cannot 'remember' the last time his side won a Kenyan Premier league match.

The 'Slum Boys' last posted a positive result way back on April 30 during a 1-0 win against Gor Mahia and as Francis Kimanzi side prepares to host Sony Sugar on Saturday at Ruaraka, Oduor has challenged the rest of the squad to come out and show their character.

“It’s been a while. We’ve not won for a long time. I can’t even remember. I am calling on all players to get the job done on Saturday,” said Oduor, who will face off with his younger brother, Fredrick Onyango when Sony makes the trip to the Capital City.

“Pressure is on all of us but being a senior player, you will always be the one on the spotlight. The young players still have time to make mistakes but for us (old player), we should do it now.

“It will be a good feeling to score against Sony Sugar. I expect my younger brother to play too, and that I score against Sony and hopefully win.”

Mathare United are currently 17th in the 18-team table with only 11 points from 15 matches.
