Henry Abiodun charges Sunshine Stars management on players' clearance

Sunshine Stars head coach, Henry Abiodun has appealed to the management of the club to expedite action on the registration of their newly signed players.

The Owena Whales are 19th in the league table with 21 points from 20 games and the coach in his post-match assessment of their performance in their 1-0 away loss to Lobi Stars insists that they must add few new players to the team to help them escape relegation at the end of the season.

“The bottom-line is that we have to strengthen our team if we are to get better results than we have presently and this I have made known to the management as an interim coach, Abiodun told Goal.

“The players in the team presently are doing their best but we need to bring in few new faces to complement their effort. We played very well against Lobi Stars and they won because they were the luckier side.

“I have made my position known to the management that it will be difficult to compete with other teams who are presently using the mid-season transfer to recruit new players. We must do what we have to do to get these six players to start playing for us before it is too long.”

He, however, hinted that he expects to see a much improved Sunshine Stars when they face Heartland this weekend in Akure.

“We shall go back and try to work with what we have to ensure that we perform better against Heartland.

“We can’t afford to drop more points at home based on our present position in the league table. I believe in my players that they will get over this disappointing result and go for the points at stake against Heartland.”
