"A rainbow baby is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravage of a storm," Arter wrote in an Instagram post.

"When the rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is now dealing with its aftermath.

"What is means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkest clouds."

Among those to congratulate the couple was Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn, who wrote on Twitter that he was "thrilled" with the news.

The Republic of Ireland international has previously spoken about the devastating loss of Renee and the impact that it has had on him and his partner.

Arter amazingly played for Bournemouth just two days after the life-changing event and revealed that he now plays with the aim of doing his daughter proud in every game.
