Everton will aim to bounce back from their Merseyside derby heartbreak when they host Newcastle in the Premier League on Wednesday.
A horrendous error from Jordan Pickford six minutes into second-half stoppage time presented Liverpool with a 1-0 victory at Anfield on Sunday, after Marco Silva’s men had held their own.
Newcastle are also coming off a disappointing weekend result, having lost 3-0 at home to struggling West Ham.
Rafael Benitez’s side, however, had won their three previous outings and are seeking to get back on course at Goodison Park.

Match Preview
GettyNo game means more to an Evertonian than the Merseyside derby, which is why Sunday’s last-gasp 1-0 loss to Liverpool will have stung so much.
The Toffees put an immense amount into the game yet came away with nothing, but Marco Silva was eager to put their performance into perspective ahead of the midweek home meeting with Newcastle.
“It was a very good performance,” he said. “We didn’t deserve the result.
“We played well there, different to the previous seasons but we keep taking very good things from the match.
“We didn’t achieve the result but it shows we are in a very good way.”
The ex-Watford boss is, however, keen to look to the future and is aware of the threat Newcastle pose when playing away from home.
“It is a fact they are achieving better results away from home,” he said. “We have to play at our level with speed to create the chances to win the match.”
Newcastle had won three successive Premier League matches before crashing down to earth with a 3-0 loss against West Ham at the weekend.
Rafael Benitez’s side have lost only twice away from home all season as opposed to six times at St James’ Park, while they have kept four clean sheets on their travels.
“Obviously it's a reminder that still we can improve things, and we have to improve things,” he said following that loss, before suggesting he would like backing in the January transfer window.
“There are two ways: one is working harder and better, or bringing in players who on their own can make the difference.”
With unpopular owner Mike Ashley having once again suggested he could sell the club, Newcastle fans will certainly hope the latter is possible.
