Pahang suffered their first defeat of the 2017 season when they were handed a 4-1 drubbing by Kedah at Darul Aman Stadium on Saturday. Having gone into the fixture as league leaders, the Elephants not only went home without any points, the victors also took away their top spot.

Dollah Salleh couldn't hide his anger at how his players performed in the away match. With only one goal conceded in their first three matches, the four conceded in a single match was not what Dollah wanted from his side.

"Of course it's disappointing. Everything didn't go our way tonight. We had trouble with our focus and that surprised me," said Dollah.

The midifeld of Francisco Insa, Wan Zaharulnizam, Mohamadou Sumareh and Syamim Yahya incurred the most wrath from the former Malaysia national team head coach as he lambasted the performance of his players who looked to have gone off the boil against Kedah.

"The players had trouble executing my plans. We got stuck in the middle and that meant our strikers didn't get the service they needed," explained Dollah.

The matches are coming thick and fast with Pahang with the next match being on Tuesday against Johor Darul Ta'zim II in the FA Cup Second Round. After this heavy defeat, Dollah will have to pick his team up for new challenges but points out that he could give his players a chance to redeem themselves.

"I'm not sure yet [on making changes]. It's possible that I could maintain the same team but we'll look at it over the next few days," added Dollah.

Pahang are currently currently in second place on seven points, a point behind new leaders, Kedah.
