Boateng: Not easy to score against a team like Real Madrid

Levante striker Emmanuel Boateng is excited about his goal against Real Madrid in the Spanish topflight on Saturday.

The 21-year-old, who joined the La Liga outfit from Portuguese side Moreirense last August, broke his goal duck against none other than Los Blancos  when he struck in the 43rd minute to level the score at 1-1.

In the end, it was spoils shared at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia as the two sides settled for a 2-2 draw.

“I feel very good because the calls and the messages I’m having from Ghana has really made me happy, and I’m proud of myself,” Boateng said in a video interview released by his club.

“I thank God for how far he has brought me because it is not easy to score against a big team like Real Madrid, so I’m really happy.

“I think when I came [to Spain], I had some difficulties because it’s really difficult to adapt when you first come to La Liga because it’s one of the biggest leagues in the world. So always, the coach talks to me anytime.

“I’m a player who doesn’t like to complain a lot. If I play or I don’t play, I just keep working hard.

“Now I think I’m used to how they play, so I’m really happy and I hope I get the chance to take part in the games.”

From Ghana, Boateng initially joined Portuguese Rio Ave in 2013, before joining Moreirense in 2015.

Yet to be capped by Ghana at senior level, the attacker was a member of the Black Satellites side at the 2015 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
