Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0 at a rain-soaked Spotify Camp Nou to hand Unai Emery's side their first defeat of this season's Champions League campaign.
Villa gifted the hosts the lead on seven minutes, when Joao Gomes' panicked pass across his own box fell to Yamal, whose 14th Champions League goal made him the competition's highest-scoring teenager. The visitors threatened throughout an open first half, with Matty Cash and Gomes both seeing close-range efforts blocked and Johan Manzambi missing a fine chance before being denied by Joan Garcia.
The captain settled it after the break, finishing from Fermin Lopez's through ball on 52 minutes and Joao Cancelo's cross on 64. Barcelona ended with 65 per cent possession, 1.96 expected goals (xG) to Villa's 0.72, and their first Champions League clean sheet in 18 matches. The win lifts them above Villa into second place in the league phase, with both sides on nine points.
