AFC Leopards now suspend troubled star for two weeks

AFC Leopards have suspended troubled midfielder Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth for two weeks.

The former Gor Mahia man has been missing in action for the twelve time league champions since their match against Madagascar's Fosa Juniors in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Ingwe official Oscar Igaida has revealed to Goal that they have opted to ban the player instead, of terminating his contract but ‘heavier sanctions might be considered if things do not work as they should.’

“As the Disciplinary Committee, we have decided to suspend ‘Gattuso’ for two weeks, after that he can rejoin the team for training. It is our hope that he has learnt his lesson and will get back more settled and re-energized.”

However, Goal now understands that the club is on the verge of terminating the contract of coach Robert Matano, who was suspended alongside ‘Gattuso’, two weeks ago.

Whhen asked about Matano’s fate, Igaida remained coy on the issue. “I will be in the position to answer that question in the next three hours or so.”

AFC Leopards have a chance to move second on Kenyan Premier League table if they beat Wazito in a rescheduled match at Machakos Stadium.
