    Earlier on Thursday, The Gambia Sports Federation revealed that the chartered flight carrying their national team to Ivory Coast for the upcoming African Cup of Nations 2023, made an emergency landing due to a loss of oxygen inside the flight. The plane only flew for nine minutes before returning to Banjul.

    Later in the day, Wrexham shared an update confirming the well-being of The Gambia national team along with their star defender Jacob Mendy. The team safely reached its destination and held a training session before flying out to Yamoussoukro where they are set to face Senegal in their tournament opener on Monday.
