Wayne Rooney plotting 'raid of Liverpool' in bid to boost Plymouth's survival chances with Carabao Cup hero Jayden Danns among names on transfer shortlist

With Plymouth lying 19th in the Championship, five points above the drop zone, Rooney is looking to take initiative in the upcoming January transfer window in order to ensure he has suitable squad depth to stay in the division, and promising Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns has emerged as a chief loan target, according to The Sun.

Danns made his first senior appearance for the Reds in the dramatic Carabao Cup final in February of this year, as a host of Liverpool youngsters performed beyond their years in the extra time win over Chelsea. He would then score his first two goals for the club just three days later in an appearance off the bench in the FA Cup against Southampton. Despite not playing for the senior team this year, Plymouth have emerged as potential suitors for the 18-year-old, and with Liverpool keen to develop the promising talent, a loan move to the Championship could be just what he needs to take the next step in his career.

Rooney's Plymouth are among the lowest scorers in the Championship this season having only found the net 17 times through their first 16 games.

Plymouth's next fixture sees them travel to Norwich. With the Canaries underperforming and currently in 13th, Rooney will this as an opportunity to pull of an unlikely win.
