Manchester United started their Women's Super League clash against Aston Villa in fine form as Elizabeth Terland scored a brace within the first half an hour of the game. However, the standout point of the game came from Clinton, who scored a 40-yard lob past Villa's D'Angelo just before half-time to give the Red Devils a three-goal lead.

However, Aston Villa players were not happy with Clinton's goal as she appeared to foul their teammate Jill Baijings in her hunt to win the ball before she scored the goal. However, replays showed that her shove on the Dutch midfielder was not overly strong.
