In a must-win Ligue 1 encounter on Saturday, Le Havre came from behind on two occasions to beat Strasbourg 3-2. The win helped them finish 15th in the French top division and narrowly avoid relegation. In the dying moments of the match, the visitors got a penalty and Toure stepped up to take the spot-kick. In a situation where a goal was absolutely necessary, the Guinea international attempted a Panenka kick and calmly found the back of the net.

This was Le Havre's 10th win of the season as they finished the 2024-25 campaign with 34 points from as many matches. Reims, who lost to Lille on the same day, ended the season with 33 points and suffered relegation along with St-Etienne and Montpellier.

The French domestic football season will formally end on May 24 when league champions Paris Saint-Germain take on Reims in the French Cup final. PSG will then face Inter in the Champions League final on May 31.
