'I tell him to f*ck off' - USMNT star Tyler Adams reveals unusual motivation technique for teammate Gio Reyna as he makes huge claim about his own ability

The pair grew up together in New York and have that famous city edge to them, which also spans to their behaviour on the pitch. Adams doesn't walk on eggshells when it comes to telling Reyna how it is - and he even tells him to "f*ck off" if needs be. The Borussia Dortmund man also wastes no time in returning the advice.

Speaking with former USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Adams revealed the unique tactic he uses with Reyna. "When I need to get into Gio, I tell him to f*ck off. And he'll do the same to me," he said.

The midfielder then went on to make a huge claim about his ability in comparison to other players across world football. He added: "When I'm healthy and playing consistently. I'm one of the best midfielders at what I do in the world. I'm not a politician, I don't need to persuade anyone."

The USMNT are preparing to kickstart their Copa America tournament on Sunday with a tough clash against Bolivia pencilled in as their first game. They will then face Panama and Uruguay in the remaining fixtures of Group C.

Adams' focus has now shifted to Copa America action with his country. He recently played 15 minutes off the bench during the 1-1 draw with Brazil before the tournament, after missing the vast majority of the 2023-24 season through injury. Whether or not Adams starts the clash against Bolivia, will be down to coach Gregg Berhalter.
