USMNT Transfers: New England Revolution reportedly eye surprise Matt Turner return, while Bryan Reynolds and Max Arfsten could be on the move

Sources tell GOAL US that Turner's move to Lyon from Nottingham Forest is nearing completion, and that upon signing for the Ligue 1 giants, he will subsequently be loaned to the New England Revolution on a one-year deal. His roster designation remains to be determined.

In June, it was reported that Lyon and Forest agreed on a fee for the transfer of Turner ahead of the Gold Cup with the USMNT. However, amid financial woes, Lyon were relegated to Ligue 2 - and then, after a successful appeal, they were reinstated to the French top division and their spot in European football next season was guaranteed.

American owner John Textor stepped down from his leadership role at the club, and Michele Kang took over the day-to-day operations of it.

As a result and due to financial implications of Turner potentially being a high-priced backup, Lyon made an attempt to back out of the deal with Forest, hiring legal personnel, but Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly turned down any attempt to pull out of the deal.

Turner is reportedly set to sign a three-year deal with Lyon, but for the next 12 months, he will spend the campaign with the Revolution.

Defender Bryan Reynolds has been linked with a move from Westerlo in Belgium to Hoffenheim in Germany. The Bundesliga side initially approached Westerlo with a loan deal, but they rejected the offer, according to GIVEMESPORT.

Reynolds has seven caps with the USMNT and has scored one goal. He was last called up to the national team in 2023, being a member of their CONCACAF Gold Cup squad.

In 2020, Reynolds signed a four-year deal with FC Dallas in MLS, and in 2021, was sent on a six-month loan to Serie A side Roma with an obligation to buy. With limited appearances, he was loaned to Belgium twice before Westerlo purchased him in 2023. He has been at the club since.

Columbus Crew defender and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad member with the USMNT, Max Arfsten, is reportedly the subject of interest from Toulouse in France, according to L'Equipe.

Toulouse, which currently roster fellow U.S. international Mark McKenzie, are looking to bolster their defense and view Arfsten as a player who could contribute to their left back core.

The Ligue 1 side approached Columbus in June with an offer, but were turned down, and now, are reportedly set to "double" their offer to the MLS side for the defender. Various reports have the new offer sitting at around $2 million.

English clubs are also reportedly interested.

The 24-year-old defender broke out at the Gold Cup, with three assists and one goal as the U.S made it to the final, where they fell just short to Mexico.

+ Stuttgart are pushing hard to sign Cole Campbell from Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Sports. Campbell is reportedly eager for the move. Dortmund, though, would prefer a loan, but are open to a move with a sell-on clause or a buyback option.

+ Winger Griffin Yow remains linked to the English Championship. Portsmouth remain interested, while Belgian side Anderlecht and MLS side D.C. United are also reportedly keeping tabs.

+ Winger Josh Sargent reportedly turned down an approach from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. He remains the subject of interest from teams around Europe.

+ Forward Tim Weah's agent recently lashed out at Juventus' hierarchy, claiming the club are standing in the way of a potential transfer to Marseille in Ligue 1.

+ Midfielder Gio Reyna remains the subject of transfer speculation. A report earlier this week claimed that Borussia Dortmund and Parma are nearing a deal for his signature.
