After being reduced to 10-men just before the 20th minute of their Copa America match with Panama on Thursday, Folarin Balogun opened the scoring for the USMNT with a wicked curling effort on his left foot.

Minutes after Tim Weah saw red for striking an opponent in the head, the young forward combined with fullback Antonee Robinson for a brilliant opening goal.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The strike is a big boost for both the USMNT and Balogun, who has slowly found a bit of form this tournament. After a tough season in France with AS Monaco, the 23-year-old striker has been handed the nod twice so far this tournament, rewarding Gregg Berhalter's choice with a goal in each match played so far.

Unfortunately for the USMNT, though, his effort was cancelled out with Panama scoring two unanswered to end the match.
