The best World Cup 2022 fantasy football strikers

Who are the best World Cup 2022 fantasy football forwards?

The FIFA World Cup Fantasy is open and managers are required to select 15 players to bulk up their squads, including three strikers.

With that in mind, GOAL takes a look at the top forward picks in the World Cup, including a few bargain options.

  • Kylian Mbappe France 2022Getty

    Kylian Mbappe | France | $11.5m

Kylian Mbappe is the most expensive pick in World Cup Fantasy Football but the French international could be worth every penny given his recent form and goal-scoring exploits.

With Karim Benzema not 100 per cent, he might even get the penalty duties for France which will be a major bonus. France find themselves in Group G, alongside Australia, Denmark and Tunisia.

    Harry Kane | England | $11.0m

England's talismanic forward Harry Kane has had a bright start to the 2022-23 season and has 11 goals and two assists in 14 appearances in the Premier League. The Three Lions will be looking up to him to produce the goods in the attacking third.

He has 51 goals in 75 international appearances and is just three short of Wayne Rooney’s record of top goal scorer for England. Placed alongside relatively easier sides in Iran, USMNT and Wales, expect the 2018 Golden Boot Award winner to bang in the goals in the group stages.

  • Lionel Messi ArgentinaGetty

    Lionel Messi | Argentina | $10.5m

Lionel Messi has been in sublime form heading to the World Cup with 12 goals and 14 assists to his name for Paris Saint-Germain in 18 appearances across all competitions.

He is geared up to hand Argentina the trophy after a hiatus of 36 years and supporters can expect some fireworks from the little magician. This could well turn out to be Messi's World Cup.

  • Neymar-Brazil-World-Cup-campGetty

    Neymar | Brazil| $10.5m

Brazil's hopes of winning their sixth World Cup title rest on Neymar and going by his recent form for PSG we can assume that the forward will shine bright in Qatar.

He has 11 goals and nine assists in Ligue 1 and is the joint top-scorer. Moreover, he is just two short of matching Pele's international goal tally of 77. He will be looking to break the record in the group stages itself as Brazil have been placed alongside Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal Czech Republic injury 2022Getty Images

    Cristiano Ronaldo | Portugal | $10.0m

Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't been firing the goals for Manchester United but write off the Portuguese talisman at your own peril.

He holds the record for most goals in international football, scoring 117 times, and it would not be surprising if he scores a few more to turn around his season and more importantly help Portugal reach the knockouts of the World Cup.

  • Robert Lewandowski Poland 2022-23Getty Images

    Robert Lewandowski | Poland | $10.0m

Robert Lewandowski is ageing like fine wine and remains Poland's ray of hope in the 2022 World Cup. He has been sensational for Barcelona with 18 goals in all competitions since his summer move from Bayern Munich.

Poland have not progressed to the knockout stages since 1986 and if they are to do it in this edition then Lewandowski must fire on all cylinders.

  • Romelu Lukaku Belgium Goal50 SLIDELISTGetty

    Romelu Lukaku | Belgium | $9.5m

Romelu Lukaku has missed much of the season with a muscle injury, but is now hopeful of featuring for Belgium in the World Cup.

The Red Devils have struggled for goals without the Inter striker and with Kevin De Bruyne feeding him we can expect him to hit the ground running if he is given the nod for their opening game against Canada.

  • Serge Gnabry Germany England Nations League 07062022Getty

    Serge Gnabry | Germany | $9.0m

Serge Gnabry scored four goals in his last two matches, including a hat-trick against Werder Bremen, for Bayern Munich.

He might turn out to be Germany's trump card in Qatar as he has the reputation of being in the right place at the right time on most occasions. He has 20 goals in just 36 appearances for Germany which is another testimony to his form in national colours.

  • Heung-min Son South Korea 2022Getty

    Son Heung-min | South Korea | $8.5m

Son Heung-min has travelled to Qatar after recovering in time from a facial injury. He has over 100 appearances for South Korea and has scored nine goals in his last 14 international appearances.

The Asian giants will certainly be looking up to him for inspiration in the attacking third. If the Premier League Golden Boot winner of last season finds his rhythm early then he should be able to nick a few goals.

  • Darwin Nunez UruguayGetty Images

    Darwin Nunez | Uruguay | $8.0m

Darwin Nunez did struggle to find his feet in the Premier League in the initial stages of Liverpool career, but he heads to the World Cup with three goals in the last three matches.

At $8m, he should be a bargain given that Uruguay are tipped to progress to the knockouts from Group H.

  • Cody Gakpo Netherlands 2022Getty

    Cody Gakpo | Netherlands | $7.0m

Cody Gakpo can be your ideal budget forward priced at just $7.0m.

The forward has been the standout performer for PSV this season and has 13 goals and 17 assists to his name from 24 games. With Memphis Depay struggling with a minor injury, all eyes will be on Gakpo against Senegal on November 21.

  • Gareth Bale Wales 2022Getty Images

    Gareth Bale | Wales | $8.0m

Gareth Bale single-handedly fired Wales to the World Cup finals and is often regarded as their best player ever.

In the MLS Cup final Bale once again delivered for La Galaxy with an unthinkable goal, and at a moment that shouldn't have been possible. He has proven time and again since his Real Madrid days that he is a player for the big occasions and should shine at the World Cup.

  • Lautaro Martinez Argentina 2021-22Getty Images

    Lautaro Martinez | Argentina | $8.0m

Lautaro Martinez will lead the line for Argentina and with Lionel Messi playing behind him it won't be surprising if he goes on to bag the Golden Boot at the end of the tournament.

At $8m, he should turn out to be a bargain and will fancy his chances of finishing amongst the top scorers in Qatar.

  • Aleksandar Mitrovic of Serbia Getty Images

    Aleksandar Mitrovic | Serbia | $7.0m

Aleksandar Mitrovic is a low-cost option who can be handy for Serbia. He has scored nine goals in 12 matches for Fulham this season which shows that he has been in red-hot form before the World Cup.

He has also been nothing short of prolific for his national team over the years, with 50 goals in 75 matches. Against Switzerland and Cameroon you can expect him to be among the goals, and he may also give Brazil problems.

  • Ismaila Sarr Senegal Guinea CAN 2021Getty

    Ismalia Sarr | Senegal | $6.5m

It has already been confirmed by the Senegal FA that Sadio Mane will be missing the first few games and hence the spotlight will be on Ismalia Sarr for goals.

The Watford winger has six goals and four assists in The Championship and if you are looking for a cheap option then he could be the one.
