Sergio Ramos sends message to four Real Madrid 'legends' following club's Champions League final triumph over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley

After Real Madrid won their record-extending 15th European Cup on Saturday evening, the club's former skipper Sergio Ramos was quick to congratulate four of his ex-teammates in a social media post. "4 legends, 24 champions congratulations," he posted on his Instagram Stories with a picture of Dani Carvajal, Luka Modric, Nacho and Toni Kroos celebrating with the trophy.

The significance of the four players pictured was not lost on Ramos, as the quartet were all celebrating a sixth Champions League win. Caravajal, Modric and Nacho have won all of their titles with Madrid, while Kroos has five with Los Merengues and one with his former side Bayern Munich.

Ramos also posted about Madrid's triumph, writing on Instagram stories: "A true love story. Don't try to understand it. Congratulations Real Madrid x 15 Champions League."

Real Madrid have won six Champions League titles since 2014, one more than any of the rest of teams combined over this period (Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munichn, Chelsea and Man City, one title each).

For Madrid, the club are set to follow up their La Liga and Champions League double with the imminent signing of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer, a prospect that will send shivers down the spine of any side hoping to dethrone them either domestically or continentally next season. Ramos, meanwhile, is not expected to renew his expiring contract with Sevilla, amid speculation that MLS expansion side San Diego FC are looking to sign him.
