Robert Lewandowski set for showdown talks with Barcelona as striker set for massive wage rise despite uncertainty about his future

The Polish striker, who arrived at the Catalan club from Bayern Munich in 2022, is once again the team's highest goalscorer this season with 24 strikes to his name. As per the contract he signed two years ago, Lewandowski's wage is supposed to increase to €30 million (£26m/$32m) for the 2024-25 campaign, however, Barcelona will try to negotiate the increase in wages of the player as they are set to meet his agent.

According to Sport, Blaugrana sporting director Deco along with president Joan Laporta is all set to meet the striker's representative, Pini Zahavi, who is scheduled to visit the club next week. While the former La Liga champions still consider Lewandowski to be an important player for the team, they would take into account the fact that the veteran forward will turn 36 this year. Xavi is on a mission to bolster his team's attack ahead of the next season and will look to sign multiple attacking players.

With only four games left in the current season, Xavi's side will aim to secure as many points as possible to reclaim the second position on the league table from Girona.

For now, the ex-Bayern Munich player remains focused on his job and will aim to finish the season in style. He will be next seen in action against Real Sociedad on Monday.
