'See that killer look!' - Rob McElhenney reveals why he's not feeling nervous ahead of crunch promotion clash with Charlton as Wrexham co-owner sends rousing message to fans

Wrexham are on the verge of securing a historic third consecutive promotion to the Championship as they take on Charlton Athletic in a crucial League One clash on Saturday. With third-placed Wycombe losing against Leyton Orient earlier in the day, the Red Dragons can create history with three points at SToK Cae Ras stadium.

Ahead of the game, Hollywood star and co-owner Rob McElhenney sent out a 'killer' message to the fans as he revealed whether he was feeling nervous. McElhenney's partner at the club, Ryan Reynolds, had earlier joked that the stress of another Wrexham promotion push has given him an “eight-inch ulcer” and caused “receding hairlines”.

In his message, the American actor said on Instagram: "People have been asking me all week, am I nervous, am I nervous about this weekend. I swear I do not feel any nerves. The only reason that is the case is that I spent the week with the players, and you know who's not nervous? The players.

"Don't get me wrong, you look in their eyes and you see that killer look. Prey! They just want to go out there and win, but most of all they want to go out there and have a blast, to enjoy it. To me this is just a giant free hit anyway, we were picked to be like 15th or 16th, so I'm just enjoying the moment and I hope that everyone else is as well."

He added: "I would encourage anyone who is going to be at the Cae Ras with me today to come loud, loud for the boys, from the opening kick off to the final whistle. I know I will be. As always, up the town."

After the clash against Charlton later on Saturday, Phil Parkinson's side will play their final game of the season against Lincoln City on May 3.
