West Ham and Al-Nassr offered to activate the €10 million (£8m/$11m) release clause in his contract with Sporting CP, A Bola reports, but they both failed to persuade Amorim to leave the Portuguese side. Amorim has said that he was holding out for a more attractive project and that the United job was the only one he wanted.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The first club to make contact with Sporting were West Ham. Amorim travelled to London to discuss the club vision and terms, but rejected their offer after it didn't fit his own goals. The second were Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr, who were ready to pay him €20m (£17m/$22m) per year.

WHAT AMORIM SAID
Seemingly referring to Al-Nassr's offer, Amorim said that he had an offer from a club that would see him earn three times as much as he will earn since replacing Erik ten Hag as Red Devils boss.

WHAT NEXT FOR AMORIM?
With the Portuguese manager's next destination now set in stone, Amorim has two games left at Sporting CP before he takes charge at Old Trafford on November 11. The first game will be a Champions League clash against rivals-to-be Manchester City and the second will be his final league game in charge against Braga.
