Revealed: Jude Bellingham's England team-mates miffed by 'Hey Jude' adidas Euro 2024 advert

Bellingham was the focus of the two-minute pre-tournament advert, which starred David Beckham, Frank Lampard and grime artist Stormzy and was soundtracked by The Beatles' hit 'Hey Jude'. It positioned the young Real Madrid star as the hero England had been waiting for during all the years of hurt ahead of the tournament in Germany, where the Three Lions were initially favourites.

The ad was an instant hit with the public, but, according to The Athletic, some in the Three Lions camp believe it made it look like it was all about one man, contradicting the togetherness that manager Gareth Southgate has tried to forge.

The report adds that Bellingham does not have as many strong connections within the England squad as some of his team-mates, although he is very close with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the 20-year-old is described as "acutely aware" of what is said and written about him in the media.

Ultimately, Bellingham was not able to make himself England's overall saviour as they fell short in the Euro 2024 final against Spain in Berlin on Sunday. He did produce some heroics on the way to the showpiece, scoring the winner in the Three Lions' opening group game and a memorable, last-ditch bicycle-kick equaliser in the last 16. He will now have to pick himself up and dust himself down as he prepares for pre-season with Madrid, with England facing Nations League fixtures in September.
