Rasmus Hojlund sends message to Benjamin Sesko after Man Utd striker scores in win over Sunderland

Ruben Amorim's men bounced back from last weekend's defeat at Brentford by completing a solid display, which helped them earn a well-deserved 2-0 win over top-four hopefuls and surprise package Sunderland at the Old Trafford on Saturday. Mason Mount opened the scoring in the eighth minute, before Sesko doubled their lead 23 minutes later to put the tie to bed.

Having gone his first five Premier League games without finding the back of the net, Sesko bagged his first goal for the Red Devils in the 3-1 loss to Brentford last weekend. His scoring streak continued on Saturday, as the former RB Leipzig forward scored his first home goal. 

Hojlund, who is currently on loan at Napoli from United, commented under Sesko's Instagram post and wrote: "Congrats my friend." It was a heartwarming gesture from the Danish striker, who expressed delight over what Sesko has done. The Slovenia international was acquired over the summer to replace Hojlund, a player who was reportedly keen to fight for his place at the Old Trafford but was ultimately forced to depart.

While Hojlund couldn't achieve much success at United, both individually and collectively, he has surpassed expectations with his initial performances at Napoli, bagging three goals in his first five games. The former Atalanta striker is now scoring goals for fun in the Champions League and has become integral to head coach Antonio Conte during the injury-enforced absence of Romelu Lukaku. The Copenhagen-born player is "very happy" to have arrived in Naples, and has already confirmed his intentions to stay with the Partenopei beyond the expiry of his season-long loan. The defending Serie A champions have a conditional obligation to purchase Hojlund permanently from United next summer for €44 million (£38m/$51m).

Sesko will be aiming to get more goals under his belt in the upcoming international break with Slovenia. Matjaz Kek's side will be facing Kosovo on October 10 and Switzerland on October 13. They will need to do better in those two games, considering that they are yet to win in the ongoing World Cup qualification campaign.
