The ex-US Soccer director informed Dutch reporter Rik Elfrink that the Eredivisie club are set to trigger the purchase options for Bayern Munich's Tillman and Barcelona's Dest. The duo have helped PSV to the knockout stages of the Champions League while also giving them a 10-point lead in the league standings.
PSV's technical director Earnest Stewart confirmed this approach for the USMNT duo, as he told Ziggo Sport (via Voetbalzone) on Monday: “We can say that things are going really well for us and for these two players. It is true that there is an option to buy with both players. The expectation is that we might do something with that."
On whether Dest and Tillman want to stay in Eindhoven, Stewart replied: "Fortunately so. That is of course also very important. As a club you can want anything, but a player is very important. You will first discuss it with the player and his management, so it is a bit premature to mention that here at the table."
GettyTillman has five goals and three assists for the Dutch side this season, while Dest is in red-hot form, notching a wonderful solo goal over the weekend from the left-flank. The duo connected for the strike, with Malik finding Sergino in stunning fashion. Their chemistry on the pitch has resulted in a positive start to the campaign for PSV, while USMNT teammate Ricardo Pepi has recently joined in on the fun as well.
The USMNT trio of Tillman, Dest and Pepi have combined for over 23 goal contributions this campaign in all competitions.
