Predicting Bafana Bafana's XI to face France

Bafana Bafana will be hoping to secure a confidence-boosting win over France in Tuesday's international friendly match at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The game comes four days after coach Hugo Broos' men drew 0-0 against Guinea in another friendly game

Broos said he would make major changes to the team that started against Guinea, mentioning the names of Nyiko Mobbie and Fagrie Lakay.

GOAL predicts how the Belgian could select his starting line-up against France.

The Bafana captain was not even on the bench against Guinea as Broos gave Veli Monthwa a chance.

Williams is now expected to be back as the coach could field his strongest team possible.

    RIGHT-BACK - Nyiko Mobbie

Mobbie has been one of the most preferred players under Broos and the coach said he would start the Sekhukhune United defender.

That would see Khuliso Mudau sitting on the bench after the Mamelodi Sundowns star impressed against Guinea.

  • Lyle Lakay, Bafana Bafana, November 2020Backpagepix

    LEFT-BACK - Lyle Lakay

Lakay tasted just five minutes of action after coming on as a late substitute to replace Terrence Mashego who had started against Guinea.

But Lakay could be in the line-up to be fully assessed as this camp marks his first time with the national team under the current technical team.

  • Rushine De Reuck, Bafana Bafana, July 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRE-BACK - Rushine de Reuck

The Mamelodi Sundowns central defender played the second 45 minutes against the Syli National.

But having always been a starter under Broos, De Reuck is likely to be in the line-up.

  • Siyanda Xulu, Bafana Bafana, March 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRE-BACK - Siyanda Xulu

Xulu is the most experienced player in this Bafana squad and his presence in defence would be needed especially with Kylian Mbappe declared fit to play.

Xulu has partnered De Reuck at the heart of defence more than any other player under the current Bafana coach.

  • Teboho Mokoena, Bafana Bafana, August 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Teboho Mokoena

Mokoena came on as a second-half substitute for Thabang Monare in the last match.

But having been a consistent starter in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, he could return to the line-up for a midfield battle against Paul Pogba if the Manchester United star is fielded.

  • Thabang Monare, Bafana Bafana, March 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Thabang Monare

Broos has always preferred playing with two central midfielders with one in a more holding role while the other being offensive.

The Belgian is an avid admirer of Monare who did not disappoint against Guinea despite all the criticism of him heading into that game.

    LEFT MIDFIELDER - Keagan Dolly

Despite playing 90 minutes in the last game, the Kaizer Chiefs man could be back to start again.

Dolly has the much-needed experience needed against Le Bleus, having played a large part of his career in France.

  • Bandile Shandu Orlando Piratesbackpagepix

    RIGHT MIDFIELDER - Bandile Shandu

With stiff competition at right-back, Broos has found a new role for Shandu in midfield.

The Orlando Pirates star is offensive and has been one of the top scorers for the Buccaneers this season and that gives the Bafana tactician to play him a bit up the field.

  • Fagrie Lakay of South Africa challenged by Brendan Galloway of Zimbabwe, November 2021Backpagepix

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - Fagrie Lakay

Another player assured to start as per what the coach said.

The Pyramids FC attacker missed the Guinea match as he battled to secure his visa to travel to France.

  • Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Bafana Bafana, September 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRE-FORWARD - Bongokuhle Hlongwane

Hlongwane is another player who joined camp late due to complications in securing his visa.

The US-based player is almost assured to start and would be bracing to meet the challenge of Raphael Varane if the Manchester United defender is selected to play.
