Pogba is on the verge of completing a move to AS Monaco, marking his return to competitive football after a lengthy doping ban. BBC Sport recently reported that the French international was in advanced talks over a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 side. Pogba has now landed in Nice and will soon travel to Monaco to complete his medical before signing their contract.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who previously played for Manchester United and Juventus, was provisionally suspended after testing positive during a random check following Juventus’ 2023-24 season opener against Udinese. Initially handed a four-year suspension for the presence of DHEA, a substance that boosts testosterone and appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list, Pogba saw his punishment reduced to 18 months following an appeal in October. In its ruling, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) noted that Pogba had inadvertently consumed DHEA and that the substance only enhances performance in females, softening the severity of the case.

Eligible to play again since March after parting ways with Juventus, Pogba is now set to revive his career with Monaco. The 2018 World Cup winner will likely be able to take part in the Ligue 1 side's pre-season and start the season normally if he is fit.
