    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The England legend - who became a household name at Italia '90 - has also revealed that he is a Manchester United fan, and hopes that Erik ten Hag can turn the club's fortunes around this season. United finished eighth last term.

  • WHAT GASCOIGNE SAID

Gascoigne told Seaman Says, sponsored by Betway: "I miss it so much even now, really badly. When I watch a shit player and he's on £300k a week, I think God, almighty!'

"The bit that gets me is that when they score, they don’t really celebrate. They forget that a bloke might take his kids to a match and it’s expensive. You’ve got to pay for travel, food, tickets, and then a player scores and blanks them. I hate that.

"But I’ve been looking forward to this season. I think I'll watch a few more games. I've always been a fan of Man Utd because of Sir Alex Ferguson. When you get that high, you want them to keep on winning all the time, like Jose Mourinho."
