    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United are trying to boost their war chest with player sales, with academy products such as McTominay going down as pure profit on the balance sheet. United reportedly rejected a bid from Fulham for the 27-year-old earlier this summer, but he is said to be keen on the move to Napoli. Whether he stays put remains to be seen.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

McTominay, who scored 10 goals last season in his best-ever return for United, is into the last year of his contract, although there is an option to extend that by a further year. Since making his first-team debut in the 2016-17 season, he has made 254 appearances for the Premier League giants.
