    THE BIGGER PICTURE

France are still processing the news that legendary forward Antoine Griezmann has retired from international football. The 33-year-old regularly played in the role that Olise occupied last night, so the Bayern attacker will be keen to make the case that he can replace him in the long term. However, better performances will be needed.

  • WHAT DESCHAMPS SAID

In his post-match press conference, Deschamps said: "Michael has a lot of qualities, but he didn't have his best game tonight and made a lot of technical mistakes. He knows that."

He continued: "This is a new situation for him and the demands are high, even though he's doing well at Bayern. But you can't compare him to 'Grizou' with everything he's done, even though he was in more or less the same position."
