Matheus Cunha to take Marcus Rashford's No. 10 shirt after England international tells Manchester United he wants to leave Old Trafford

According to GOAL, Rashford's representatives have been informed of the club's intention to pass his number on to the Brazilian. It has long been expected that Rashford will leave his boyhood club this summer after a falling out with manager Ruben Amorim and a loan move to Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024-25 season.

The want-away forward is one of five first-team players who have declared their intention to leave the club. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Antony and Rashford have all been excused from reporting to pre-season training so they can focus on securing a move away from Manchester.

United remain thankful to Rashford for his contributions at Old Trafford, having become one of their most successful academy graduates in the modern era, but his future looks to be away from the club and therefore new arrival Cunha has been handed the No. 10 squad number.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs since his loan move to Villa set this long-running saga in motion. Rashford wants to play Champions League football and would prefer to ply his trade outside of England. He has been linked with Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past few days.
