  • Greenwood on loan at Getafe
  • Two Premier League sides enquire about forward
  • Manchester United prioritise summer sale
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Telegraph reports that at least two English top-flight clubs are keen on recruiting the 22-year-old and have made initial enquiries, however, the forward is 'more likely' to move overseas if sold this summer. The one-time England international - who has had his best-ever scoring season this term - is also reportedly on the radar of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Lazio and is valued by United at £40-45 million ($50-56m). Greenwood left United last September after the conclusion of a six-month internal investigation into his conduct away from the pitch. An attempted rape charge against the footballer was dropped in early 2023.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The report adds there is 'little expectation' Greenwood will stay at United, with the Red Devils eyeing a big-money exit for the academy product - whose sale would go down as pure profit on the balance sheet. If Greenwood does not leave on a permanent deal, with Getafe keen to take him on loan again, United could push for another season-long loan deal; provided it came with an obligation to buy.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Getafe are keen to bring Greenwood, who has scored 10 goals and bagged six assists to date, back to the La Liga side for another season but the Telegraph reports the players' £75,000-a-week wages are beyond their 'financial capacity'.

    WHAT NEXT?

Getafe, who sit 10th in La Liga, have four games of the season remaining and it is likely Greenwood, whose contract at Old Trafford expires in 2025, will feature heavily in those matches.
