Mason Greenwood off the hook! Man Utd loanee sees red card over alleged ‘f*ck off’ outburst RESCINDED as Spanish Football Federation releases bizarre statement explaining events with Getafe star

Greenwood was sent off during Getafe's 2-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano earlier this week, with reports subsequently claiming that he said "f*ck you" to the official. However, Getafe appealed that decision and have proved, using video evidence, that the Manchester United loanee did not swear at the referee, instead saying "One, two, three, four (fouls), f*ck", and the RFEF have admitted their referee's error in a detailed statement.

They said in a surreal statement: "The task of this disciplinary body is not to re-referee the matches, without determining, where appropriate, the existence of a manifest material error in the referee’s description of the action. As has been said here, only proof of an error of this type can distort the assessment made by the referee and, consequently, the veracity of what was recorded in the minutes.

“The repeated viewing of the images, in fact, has allowed this Committee to conclude, beyond any doubt, that the action that led to the expulsion did not occur as described by the referee and, ultimately, prove the material error manifest in the referee’s report. These images demonstrate that the player actually said “One, two, three, four, f***.”

Greenwood had faced a lengthy ban, potentially up to four games, but he will now be available to play for Getafe against Espanyol on Saturday. The 22-year-old has scored three La Liga goals this season.

He will hope to continue hitting the back of the net for Getafe as he aims to continue making a significant impression in Spain. La Liga giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will continue to watch as they all plot summer moves for the United loanee.
