Man Utd submit shock transfer bid for PSG star to solve problem position as Sir Jim Ratcliffe kick-starts summer revolution

According to L’Equipe, the Red Devils recently submitted a formal offer for the Uruguayan, however, the Ligue 1 champions have reportedly rejected the bid. Ugarte snubbed Chelsea last summer to join PSG but he soon fell out of favour under manager Luis Enrique. He made only 25 Ligue 1 appearances in the 2023-24 campaign where he provided three assists.

Despite rejecting United's first bid, it is being reported that the reigning French champions are open to selling the player after just one season. This could encourage the Premier League side as they are expected to come up with a revised offer soon.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group are looking to rebuild the squad after taking charge of the team earlier this year. They are eyeing reinforcements in the midfield area which they have identified as the problem position. With the club likely to part ways with Brazil star Casemiro, Ugarte could prove to be a valuable addition.

The 23-year-old was named in the starting lineup on Tuesday as Uruguay began their journey in Copa America 2024. He will be next seen in action for his national team on Friday as they take on Bolivia.
