    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before making the move to Zeleznicar, Luka was a part of the academy at Red Star Belgrade, the same club where his father gained prominence. His most recent stint was with Serbian First League side Vozdovac, but now he’s looking to take his career to the next level with Zeleznicar Pancevo.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Luka’s father, Nemanja Vidic, made an indelible mark at Manchester United, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the club’s history. Vidic spent eight years at Old Trafford, during which he played under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Vidic won five Premier League titles and was twice named the Premier League Player of the Season, a rare feat for a defender. His most notable achievement came in 2008 when he lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy after United’s dramatic final victory over Chelsea in Moscow. Vidic’s partnership with Rio Ferdinand at the back became the backbone of United’s defence during a golden era for the club.

    WHAT NEXT?

Vidic joins Zeleznicar at an exciting time in the club’s history. Over the past decade, Zeleznicar Pancevo has experienced an incredible rise through the ranks of Serbian football. Starting from the fourth tier, the club has achieved three promotions, bringing them to the Serbian SuperLiga, the country’s top division.

Currently sitting fifth in the table after seven matches, Zeleznicar are only three points off the top spot, showing they are competitive at this level. With his father’s storied career as an example, Luka Vidic has plenty of inspiration to draw from as he embarks on his own journey in professional football. He might make his debut on Saturday against Vojvodina in the Super Liga.
