Man Utd fans 'attacked by 50 Fenerbahce ultras' in streets of Istanbul - as 'hooligans' share shocking footage of violent scenes on social media

In the wake of the attacks, a group believed to be associated with the GFB Bogaz Hooligans shared videos of the clashes. On their Instagram account, they boasted about the violent confrontation, targeting United fans. They claim that the ruckus started after text exchanges between a United fan and the hooligans, where the Red Devils fan seemingly challenged the group leading to the attack.

A United supporter recounted the terrifying experience to StrettyNews, explaining how the group of hooligans "swarmed" their group of five near the Grand Hisar Hotel in Istanbul.

"About 50 of them swarmed us (a group of five). One lad followed me down a street and pretended to help before hitting me with a shot in the jaw," he narrated.

A separate Instagram post shared by the hooligans showed a group of them gathered on the streets, some on motorbikes, with a caption that read: "On the first punch of a fight... Manchester is now truly RED :)".

As United prepare to face Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce side in the Europa League, they find themselves in a precarious position. Currently sitting in 21st place with only two points from previous league-phase matches, the club is struggling to secure a top-eight spot, which guarantees automatic qualification for the knockout rounds. Should they finish between ninth and 24th, United will face a two-legged play-off to progress further in the competition. With fan safety concerns mounting and on-field challenges ahead, the Red Devils have a lot at stake in Istanbul.
