    WHAT HAPPENED?

Manchester United are undertaking a whole host of job cuts amidst the ongoing restructuring at the club. The Red Devils had already fired over 250 employees last year, and in February, CEO Omar Berrada had announced that more layoffs could be on the horizon if United failed to achieve European football. After finishing 15th in the Premier League and failing to win the Europa League, reports have suggested that more than 200 employees have been told that they will be let go by the club.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

United are now set to lose the services of Brand, who is currently the Red Devils' head of performance and has been with the club since 2013. The departure is not said to be due to United's redundancies but rather a personal decision made by the 37-year-old, as he wants to 'seek a new challenge' as per The Athletic.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

As per another report by Training Ground Guru, United's Director of Insights and Innovation, Richard Hawkins, is also set to depart the club this summer. Hawkins originally joined the Red Devils in 2008 under the Head of Performance, Tony Strudwick.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED?

The Red Devils' restructuring is a plan undertaken by INEOS to reduce the club's operational costs going forward, as they continue to fall short of the sporting goals. Next season, they will hope to target finishing in the top six yet again in the Premier League.
