Liverpool injury list mounting! Alisson ruled out for two weeks as Jurgen Klopp also delivers worrying update on Diogo Jota ahead of LASK clash

Klopp revealed that although the injury to his No.1 goalkeeper was not as severe as first feared, he will still have to miss a number of important games. Alisson had sustained an injury in Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the weekend as he went down holding his lower leg in injury time. Following the game, Klopp appeared worried and unsure when the shot-stopper would return.

Alisson should be back quicker than originally feared, but Klopp was far more pessimistic with regards to Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, who alos picked up a knock against City. Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Europa League clash with Austrian side LASK, Klopp said: "Both [Alisson and Jota] are out. Ali is a bit less [worrying]. It is day by day. He cannot play tomorrow, not on Sunday, probably not the week after. Not as bad, but bad enough. Diogo should take a little bit longer. We don't know exactly how long, but it is more severe. We have to see."

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and a sustained period of absence will do little good for the Red's title charge this season. However, there is a glimmer of hope that he will be back in time for the game against rivals Manchester United on 17 December. The injury to Alisson means there will be a rare chance for Caoimhin Kelleher to impress in between the sticks in the Premier League. The Irish goalkeeper is yet to appear for Liverpool in the league, but has made three appearances in Europe. Yet, Liverpool's injury troubles continues to grow. Jota and Alisson join Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Andy Robertson on their list of absentees.

Liverpool face LASK on Thursday and know victory will seal qualification to the Europa League knockout stage. However, they will most likely be without their main goalkeeper for Premier League games against Fulham, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace before a possible return against United.
