WHAT HAPPENED?
Over the course of the last couple of seasons, Koopemeiners' stocks have been growing and the Dutch midfielder has been linked with Thiago Motta's Juventus. However, as per Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have also joined the race and are now in pole position to sign the 26-year-old.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
As per the report, Atalanta are ready to sell the Dutch international but would prefer to see him go to a club outside of Italy as they wish not to aid a direct rival in their bid to revive. Atalanta are reportedly asking for €60 million (£51m/$65m) in direct transfer fees, an amount that is viewed as too high by the Bianconeri.
The midfielder is currently with the Dutch national team in Germany as they look to take on Turkey in their Euro 2024 quarter-final clash on Saturday, July 6.
